Final Book and Prints

Book

I am pleased with how my book turned out, I wanted to have my images black and white however I also wanted to have some in colour as I felt the ones in colour worked better as you could really see all the detail in the background and the jumps/horse etc. After thinking about whether to chose black and white or colour I decided to include both by doing one of each in each double page spread, by doing this I created a contrast between the pages which were next to each other, I also feel it made my book nicer to look at as you weren't seeing all black and white or all colour. I included a few portrait oriented shots to make a bit more variety to my book.

I think if I were to re do my book I would chose a different book making company which could create a lot higher quality images on better paper, I think this would have made my book even better as it would have made the images much nicer to look at.

Prints

My final prints are going to be A1 sized and framed with a simple white wooden frame so that it doesn't distract from the images.

Overall I am happy with my two final prints, I chose my favourite two photos from my shoots with Phoebe Clunn and her event horse Woody, I decided to stick with the theme I had going in my book of having one print in colour and one in black and white, I did this because I felt the portrait of Woody worked a lot better in black and white than it did in colour however I liked the action shot of them both in colour better as it really bought out all the detail of her cross country colours and the background etc. i don't feel like there is anything i would want to change if i were to re do these final images, I am very pleased with how they both turned out and I think i definitely chose my best two images out of the bunch.

I think if i had been given more room in the exhibition I may have also chose one more images which would have also been black and white as it worked better in black and white, that would have been this image. I would have also included this image as I think it is one of the top three strongest images I took, I feel this photo works better in black and white than it does in colour because although you do not get the details of her cross country colours or the fence/background I feel it is a strong enough image in itself to work without all those details.
