Ana Goodrum (White Cat Photography) shoots only equine portraiture shots along with canine and family portraits. I have included these images in my research as they are relevant to the portrait shots I am hoping to create for my assignment.
Goodrum produces black and white and colour images which is what I aim to do with my work, I think the black and white really works with some of her images as it makes them simplistic but it also really effective. By making these images black and white it takes away the distraction of the background and puts the focus onto the horse and its owner. She also uses a very narrow depth of field so that even in her colour images the background is not too much of a distraction, by doing this she makes the photos focus on the horse and owner rather than the background being a big part of it.
Goodrum also uses location lighting to create a spotlight on the horse and this effect also creates a plain black background so the focus is only on the horse, this is something I am hoping to experiment with with my work if I am able to do so.
